Exploring the Northern Territory

3 day, 2 night 4WD Tour of Kakadu & Litchfield National Parks

Day one of the tour and we get picked up at 6am by our lively energetic guide Evan, there is 8 people on this tour which is a good size, in peak season this tour is usually 20 people. Our first stop on our tour before reaching Kakadu National Park is a visit to the Mary River for a crocodile cruise, this area is surrounded by lush green wetlands, full of exotic birdlife and wild buffalo, it’s beautiful.  Within a few minutes of departing we spot our first crocodile, its not surprising as its home to the largest concentration of salt water crocodiles, and there are 150,000 saltwater crocodiles in Northern Australia.

By lunchtime we reach the Kakadu. As its wet season we unfortunately weren’t able to visit some of its biggest attractions such as Twin Falls, Jim Jim Falls & Gunlom Falls, but the Kakadu is vast, an area of 20,000 square kilometres (nearly half the size of Switzerland) so there is so much more to see. We spent the afternoon hiking towards Ubirr Rock, our guide is full character and knowledge. Throughout  the hike we see beautiful aboriginal art, natural rock formations followed by the most amazing views from the top of Ubirr Rock.
